Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Manuscript and its arrangement

Should be typed in double line space on A4 size paper on one side of the page only, with 2.5 cm margin on all sides. The language should be simple and care should be taken to check up the spellings, punctuations etc. All tables should be serially numbered, should not be too lengthy and should have a heading stating concisely the contents. Each table should be typed on a separate sheet and not with the running matter, but placed at the end of the running text. The entire manuscript to be submitted online directly to the editor (editor@uasd.in) or to OJASat epubs.icar.org.in/ejournal/index.php/JFS/user/register.

The contents of Research Paper should have the main headings like Title, Author list, Affiliation, Correspondence, Abstract, Key words, Introduction, Material and methods, Results and discussion, Conclusionand References. Acknowledgement, if any, may be included as the last paragraph of the text before the References part. Subheadings under the above main headings should be avoided. The contents for Research Note should be organized without mentioning the headings as above, but, with the Title, Author list, Affiliation, Correspondence, Abstract, Keywords and References. The contents of Review Article should includeTitle, Author list, Affiliation, Correspondence,Abstract, Key words, Main body, Conclusion and Referenceswith subheadings as required in the article.

The authorship and its order furnished at the time of registration of the manuscript

is final. If the paper emerges out of M.Sc. / Ph.D. thesis, a certificate by the Head of the

Department to the effect that the authors were associated with the research work in the capacity

of Chairman / Member of the Advisory Committee must accompany the paper. In such cases, the

first name should necessarily be of the student concerned and should be routed through the

Dean (PGS) of their institution.

Details of the main headings

Title

This should be informative but concise. While typing the title of the paper / note only first letterof the title must be in capital. The title must be typed just before the commencement of abstract. No abbreviations should be used in the title.

Abstract (maximum of 200 words)

The abstract must be brief and informative.

Keywords

Keywords (4-5) without abbreviations need to be mentioned compulsorily for a full-lengthresearch paper and research note also, to be arranged alphabetically in sentence case.

Introduction(maximum of 350 words)

The introduction should be brief and state the objective of the experiment. The review ofliterature should be pertinent to the problem.

Material and    methods(maximum of 250 words)

This should be precise and whenever the methods of other authors are followed, it would suffice if reference to their paper is made instead of repeating the procedure, should includeexperimental design, treatments and techniques employed. The year of experiment /investigation carried out should be mentioned.

Results and discussion(maximum of 700 words)

This should govern the presentation and interpretation of experimental data onlyand each of the

experiment should be properly titled.  Common names of plant species, micro-organisms, insects  

etc., should be   supported   with authentic, latestLatin names, which shouldbe Italicsin

the typescript. When such names are first mentioned, the full generic name and the species name

with the authority should be mentioned and in subsequent reference, the generic name be

abbreviated and the authority be deleted.

All headings must be typed in lower case from the left-hand margin. The sub-headings must be

typed in lower order capitals and must start from the left-hand margin and underlined. The para

under a sub-heading must start from a line below the sub-heading.

Tables

Every table should be on a separate sheet and be clear with proper reference in the text. The

units of the data should be defined. Appropriate statistical tests should be applied to the data

presented. Foot-note should be seldom used. Lengthy tables should be avoided.

Illustrations

The illustrations, text-figures and photo prints should be clear. If there are many photo prints,

they are to be    grouped compactly. Whenever photo prints are included, the magnification should

be indicated. Photostat copies of any illustrations are not accepted and, in all cases, originals

should be sent. Legends to figures and photos should be typed on the footnote of the figure/photo.

Colour photos, if needed in research articles could be printed at extra cost.Abbreviations

should be used sparingly if advantageous to the reader. All new or unusual abbreviations should

be defined when they are used for the first time in the paper. Ordinarily, the sentences should not

begin with abbreviations or numbers.

A manuscript shall have a maximum of three tables and two figures or two tables and three

figures.

References

References should be typed in double line space along with the body of the paper but starting on

a fresh page. These should be listed in the alphabetical and chronological order. In the text, the

references should be cited as Hayman (1970) or (Hayman, 1970), Sen and Bhowal (1961) or

(Sen and Bhowal, 1961), Tosh et al. (1978) or (Tosh et al., 1978) and (Crenshaw et al., 1995;

Cummings and Zoghbi, 2000).

Citing References: The papers cited in the text should only be included in the References. While

listing the References, the following format should be followed strictly.
