A study on dynamics of trends in area, productionand productivity of groundnut in Karnataka

Abstract

Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.), is a leguminous cropwhich is widely cultivated in the tropical and sub-tropical areas, it isalso an important oilseed crop in India which occupies first position interms of area and second position in terms of production in the world.The study attempts to examine the growth in area, production andproductivity of ground nut in Karnataka for the period from 2009-10to 2018-19. The results indicated the negative growth in area andproduction while with productivity there was a positive growth rate.The government needs to emphasize the importance of cultivation ofgroundnut so that the area under the groundnut will not decrease
