Abstract

The subfamily Phycitinae was erected by Zeller in 1839 with type genus Phycidea Zeller, 1839. It is one of theeconomically important group of Pyraloidea, represents 3159 described species under 679 genera all over the world. In thepresent paper, a checklist was prepared for the species of Phycitinae occurring in India in a systematic sequence. As per thepresent checklist prepared, 233 species under 94 genera were documented. The report accounted for 7.38 per cent ofspecies and 13.84 per cent of genera from India as compared to global record. The genera and species were listed alphabetically.Further, the valid name, type genus, type species, type locality and synonyms of each species under each genus wereprovided. The study provides base for further taxonomic research on this economically important group.
